In this video I break down the OCTA (octaver) effect on the Valeton GP200 and show you exactly what the three controls are doing: Low Oct, Dry, and High Oct. Low Oct plays an octave below what you’re playing (12 notes down), High Oct plays an octave above (12 notes up), and Dry is just your normal guitar signal blended in. I run a few quick tone examples so you can actually hear what happens when you push the High Oct, pull back the Dry, or lean on the Low Oct for that thicker, bass-like layer. I also get into the part most people miss: placement in the signal chain. From my numerous experiments, putting the octaver right at the front doesn’t really sound that great on the GP200. I prefer it after the amp and cab (behind the cabinet block) because it sounds cleaner and more usable in a full preset. I share the kind of blend I normally like (Dry around 77, High Oct off for this patch, and Low Oct blended to taste) and I link my preset so you can download it and experiment with it on your own rig.
