About This Video

In Part 2 of this little brush + dip pen series, I’m focusing on what happens after your watercolor is already down: how to transform it with crisp, confidence-boosting details. I love painting loosely (that’s always the goal), and then coming back in with a dip pen to add those tiny accents that make everything feel more finished—without overworking the paint. Think: simple line work, a few intentional marks, and just enough contrast to make your shapes read. I’m using cold press paper and a couple of my favorite nib options so you can see how different tools give different “personalities” to your lines. I also share the exact pen holders and nibs I reach for, plus a quick note on availability—because one of the holders has changed and isn’t always in stock. If you’ve ever felt like your watercolor looks pretty but a little flat, this is the calm, low-pressure way I like to add structure and charm while still keeping that relaxed, painterly vibe.
