Today’s vlog is a little different because you guys have been in my DMs asking for more vlogs, and honestly… storytimes are fun but a lot of them are not PG-friendly enough to just toss on the internet when YouTube isn’t my full-time job. So we’re doing training content: my last max-out sessions before my first powerlifting meet, which is literally one week away. I signed up months ago and then proceeded to hurt myself three times (pinched a nerve in my back… three times), so after way too much physio and rehab, I’m basically just trying to get my strength back to where it was. This is my final heavy bench day before I deload, plus accessories (because the more you work your triceps, the better your bench will be). I also show some of the rehab stuff I still have to do for my back/glutes/core every day even when I’m not squatting or deadlifting. Then it’s day two: deadlift max-out, which is my OG lift—I was deadlifting before I even knew what powerlifting was. I used to pull conventional, but after hurting my back I switched to sumo because it’s way easier on my back and hits my legs more. I hit the numbers I wanted, survived the chaos, and we ended with my favorite post-workout meal in the GTA: Vietnam Noodle Star in Scarborough.
