About This Video

Happy New Year 2025! In this video I’m doing a big, honest recap of how I studied languages in 2024—Japanese (advanced), Mandarin (lower-intermediate), and Russian (beginner). I walk you through everything I actually spent time on, what counted as “real” immersion for me, and how my routines shifted depending on energy, seasons, and goals. If you like holistic language learning (where motivation, systems, and real life matter just as much as textbooks), this is basically my whole year in one place. I also show you how I create my big yearly study recaps: first building the recap itself, then analysing it for patterns, and finally reflecting on my 2024 goals. The takeaway is that a recap isn’t just a cute summary—it’s feedback. It tells me what’s sustainable, what I avoid when I’m stressed, and what actually moves the needle in each language. I end by looking at the goals I set, what worked, what didn’t, and how I’m using that information to plan the next year in a way that feels realistic and motivating.
