Repenic RD250ZG with Zigbee2MQTT | Home Assistant, Apple Home & Aqara Setup Guide

In this follow-up review, I take a detailed real-world look at the Repenic Smart Light Switch RD250ZG, this time paired with Zigbee2MQTT in Home Assistant. In my previous video, I showed how to install and pair this premium Zigbee smart dimmer switch using ZHA, along with integration into Apple Home, Alexa, and Aqara. This time, I move the switch over to Zigbee2MQTT, which unlocks far more granular control, better advanced settings, and additional configuration options. For anyone building a serious smart home with Home Assistant, this video shows exactly how to: • remove the device from ZHA • back up Home Assistant first • install Mosquitto MQTT broker • install Zigbee2MQTT • configure the Sonoff Zigbee Dongle Plus • pair the Repenic switch • fine tune brightness settings • eliminate LED flicker • bridge it back into Apple Home • bring it into the Aqara app via Matter • keep it working across multiple ecosystems One of the biggest benefits of Zigbee2MQTT is the additional device controls now available. I show settings including: • minimum brightness • maximum brightness • startup brightness • power restore behaviour • leading edge / trailing edge dimming • boost mode • live state reporting • real-time diagnostics During testing, I found that trailing edge mode works best with LED bulbs, eliminating flicker and giving a much smoother dimming experience. I also demonstrate how to bridge the switch back into: • Apple Home / HomeKit • Aqara Home • Alexa • Home Assistant automations This means you can continue using the switch across multiple smart home ecosystems at the same time.
