Meross Smart Smoke Alarm Kit MA151 Review | Matter, Apple Home, Alexa & Home Assistant Setup

In this video, I take a detailed, real world look at the Meross Smart Smoke Alarm Kit MA151, including unboxing, installation, Matter hub setup, Apple Home integration, Aqara integration, Home Assistant setup, Alexa compatibility, menu walkthrough, and a live smoke detection test. Fire safety is one of the most important parts of any home/smart home, and this kit adds an extra layer of protection by sending alerts even when you are away from home. The MA151 kit includes the Meross Matter Smart Hub MSH450 and a wireless smoke detector, giving you both smart notifications and a second alarm point elsewhere in the house. The official specifications show that the smoke detector sounds at 85 dB at 3 metres, while the MSH450 hub can sound a 110 dB alert, which is a very strong combination for waking people up in different rooms and improving whole-home coverage. One of the biggest strengths of this kit is the hub itself. The MSH450 supports both 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi and wired Ethernet, giving you flexibility for the most stable setup possible. If Ethernet is connected, the hub automatically prioritises the wired connection. The smoke detector itself uses 4 replaceable AA batteries, offers an estimated 3 year battery life, and is rated for a 10 year product lifespan, making it a very practical long-term safety upgrade. That is a genuinely useful safety feature and one of the reasons this kit feels far more thought through than a basic standalone smoke alarm. I also show a few of the settings and observations from real use, including: • automatic self tests • activity logs • battery status • cross-platform alerts • Apple Home critical alerts • Home Assistant entities and automations I also mention one limitation I noticed from real-world testing, which is that there is no obvious quick reset option after an alarm trigger inside the app, and I do think that is something Meross could improve.
