Aqara G350 Camera Hub Review and Setup, Matter 1.5, 4K, HomeKit, Alexa and Home Assistant

In this video, I take a detailed, real world look at the Aqara Camera Hub G350, including unboxing, setup in Aqara, Apple Home, Alexa, Home Assistant, auto tracking, night vision, sound quality, app settings, tap and drag control, zoom, and my final thoughts. The Aqara G350 is not just an indoor security camera. It is also a Camera Hub, supporting Aqara Zigbee devices, Thread, Matter, and Matter bridging. It is one of Aqara’s first cameras to support Matter 1.5, which should make it much more future proof as smart home ecosystems continue to catch up. The G350 uses a dual lens system with a 4K wide angle lens and a 2.5K telephoto lens, giving you a wide view of the room and much clearer detail when zooming in. It supports up to 9x hybrid zoom, and in my testing, the zoom quality was genuinely impressive. The camera can follow a person around the room and keep them in frame, which makes it very useful for indoor security. If someone enters your home, the camera does not just record a fixed angle. It can actively track movement around the room. The G350 also supports local AI features, including person detection, pet detection, facial recognition, lens obstruction detection, sound detection, smile detection, and gesture recognition. Some advanced features and cloud options may depend on Aqara settings or subscription options, but many of the detection features are processed locally on the device. For Apple users, the G350 works with Apple Home and HomeKit Secure Video, although Apple currently limits the camera stream to 1080p inside Apple Home. In the Aqara app, you can take advantage of the higher resolution, pan and tilt features, zoom, AI tracking, and more advanced camera controls. For Home Assistant users, the G350 supports RTSP, which makes it easy to bring the camera feed into Home Assistant, dashboards, NVR setups, or other local video systems. The camera also includes privacy focused features, including a physical privacy mode where the camera lens is physically covered when disabled. It also supports microSD card storage up to 512 GB, plus NAS transfer support, depending on your setup. Please note, the Aqara G350 is designed for indoor use. It is not an outdoor camera and does not have an IP65 or IP67 waterproof rating. Aqara sent this camera to me for review, but this is not a paid promotion.
