I wanted to show you what it actually looks like to ditch my MacBook Pro routine and live on Linux—on a Windows laptop—without babying the experience. So I took the Asus ProArt P16 (Ryzen AI 9 HX 370, RTX 5090, 64GB RAM) through real travel, real editing, and real gaming, then installed Pop!_OS and started using it as my main machine. This isn’t a “fresh install vibes” video—this thing went on planes, got tossed in bags with camera gear, and still held up. The matte black chassis looks simple and clean, but you do have to wipe it down, and yes, I managed to scratch it with my camera cage. On Linux, I focused on the stuff that actually matters day-to-day: ports and connectivity working properly, OLED usability, thermals, and whether my creator workflow breaks. The 16-inch 4K 120Hz OLED is genuinely gorgeous (deep blacks, no weird fringing), but it’s glossy outside. Performance was the surprise: DaVinci Resolve handled my Porsche project like a champ, and gaming in Pop!_OS was consistent with Windows—Starfield was totally playable with DLSS/frame gen. I also hit the classic Linux “good news/bad news: you can do anything” moments—Bluetooth needed fast boot disabled, Steam Flatpak caused headaches, and GNOME vs KDE experiments got… spicy. But once it’s dialed, Pop!_OS feels lighter, gives me real power tools, and with KDE Connect + LocalSend, my Android-to-Linux ecosystem is honestly insane.
