In this video, I finally upgraded my wife’s home office for corporate work—and I wanted it to feel serious without screaming “open floor plan.” The room isn’t huge, so the whole goal was simple: build a clean, minimal desk setup that actually improves productivity, then design the rest of the space so it doesn’t feel cramped. I built everything around the Vernal L-shaped executive standing desk (light walnut top, white legs), because I wanted it to look like real furniture, not just a workstation. Triple motors, super quiet, tons of lift capacity, and the privacy panel + cable management made a massive difference in keeping things clean. From there, I went into the IKEA side of the build—PAX units (236cm to hit the ceiling), doors, knobs, and all the office organization my wife actually needs as a CPA. I tried to make IKEA not look like IKEA by setting it properly and keeping the tones consistent. I also dialed in her dual-monitor setup (BenQ 28-inch 4K 120Hz, 3:2 aspect ratio) and learned quickly that the vertical monitor idea was a no-go for her—so we reworked it. The takeaway: separate zones for screens vs. thinking, keep essentials within arm’s reach (drawer + filing), and obsess over cable management so the space stays calm.
