Lately our “favorite word” has been inflation, and in this video I walk through why so many of us feel like something is very wrong with prices in America right now. I share clips and real examples people are talking about—groceries that don’t stretch, eating out somehow feeling cheaper than buying food, and everyday items (like deodorant) being priced like luxury goods. The bigger point is simple: a lot of folks are working full time and still falling behind, because their paycheck doesn’t go as far as it used to. I also talk about what this looks like in the bigger picture—26% total inflation since March 2020, the debasement of the US dollar, and why gold and silver hitting all-time highs matters (central banks are buying). I don’t get on here to scare people; I lay out the facts as I see them. And while I hope things get better, I’m also looking at the debt, the constant price hikes, and even the drop in quality that seems to come with it. My takeaway is that we can’t control the whole system, but we can do something. My husband and I are working hard to mitigate rising costs and detach more from these systems where we can—because doing the best you can is what matters, and there’s always a small step to take.
