I shared a handful of clips from folks across the country describing that heaviness—like nothing matters, like hard work isn’t paying off, like daily life is getting more expensive and more stressful while everyone is still expected to act “normal.” You hear it in what they’re saying: job searches going nowhere, people feeling checked out, families not gathering like they used to, and this sense that the culture and the economy are both shifting under our feet. But I also want to be clear—this isn’t about fear. It’s about awareness. If you’ve felt that burden, you’re not alone, and you’re not crazy for noticing it. My takeaway is simple: we have to push through, keep our eyes open, and do what we can with what we have. Put a little money aside if you can, downsize where you can, connect with local people, find local producers and farmers, and keep learning while we still have access to information. Don’t lose hope—aim to do a little bit more than yesterday, and keep moving forward.
