Most People are Pretending & Can't Actually Afford Their Lifestyle. The cost of living crisis, inflation in America, rising debt, and the disappearing middle class are exposing a hard truth: most people can’t actually afford the lifestyle they’re living. Credit cards, car loans, buy now pay later, and home equity are quietly propping up an illusion of stability while Americans struggle behind the scenes. In this video, we’re talking about the financial pressure so many households feel but rarely admit. From lifestyle inflation and social media comparison to record credit card debt and stagnant wages, something isn’t adding up. Restaurants are full, new cars are everywhere, vacations look normal — yet savings are down and financial stress is up. Are people truly doing fine, or are they surviving on borrowed money? If you’ve felt like something about life in America seems different lately, you’re not alone. Let’s break down what’s really happening, why so many Americans feel broke, and how to prepare wisely instead of pretending everything is fine. Now more than ever, financial awareness, frugal living, self sufficiency, and preparedness matter. _______________________________________ 🎙️Watch our new podcast! https://www.youtube.com/@TheNewExodusPodcast _______________________________________ 📧 Contact: Info.ahomesteadjourney@gmail.com 💛 Our Amazon Store: https://www.amazon.com/shop/ahomesteadjourney?ref_=hype_hm_sf_e 💛 Instagram: instagram.com/ahomesteadjourney 💛 Find me on Rumble here: https://rumble.com/c/AHomesteadJourney ►Disclaimer: All content found on the A Homestead Journey YouTube Channel, and related social media, including: text, images, videos, or other formats were created solely for informational and entertainment purposes only. About This Video

In this video, I’m talking about something I think a lot of people feel but don’t want to say out loud: most folks are pretending they can afford their lifestyle, and the whole thing is being propped up by debt. I share stories of people who are drowning in credit card balances, using buy now pay later, running up car loans, and even leaning on home equity—while on the outside it still looks like life is “normal.” Restaurants are full, new vehicles are everywhere, and social media makes it look like everybody’s doing fine, but the numbers and the stress say otherwise. From my own experience, I’m very much against credit cards because they can turn into a trap fast—one month becomes two, purchases snowball, and then you hit that mindset of “what’s the point, I might as well spend.” I also talk about how even people with excellent credit are defaulting more, which should be a wake-up call for all of us. My takeaway is simple: stop pretending, get honest about your finances, start slashing debt, and lean into frugal living and preparedness. If you’re able to avoid credit cards, do it—and if you’re already in it, make a plan to get out.
