About This Video

In this video I share my honest review of the recipe book What Mummy Makes by Rebecca Wilson (she used to be “What Mummy Makes” on Instagram and now she’s “Rebecca Wilson Food”). The whole premise is that you cook once for the whole family, including a baby from around six months, so you’re not making separate meals. As a mum, I really love that idea because it saves time and it saves brain power. I talk through what I like most: the ingredients are simple (some recipes are only three or four ingredients), they’re easy to find in a normal supermarket, and the recipes aren’t super fancy but they do taste really delicious. I also like that the recipes don’t rely on added sugar and salt, so I’m not constantly trying to adapt meals for a baby. There’s a good variety (chicken, fish, pasta, rice), a helpful weaning guide at the start, and lots of options that can be adapted for dietary needs like egg-free, dairy-free or gluten-free. I also share a few downsides: I personally prefer a photo next to every single recipe, and some of my favourite recipes I’d seen on Instagram weren’t included. And if you’re not doing baby-led weaning (for example, if you want purées), this book won’t be the best fit. Overall though, I do recommend it, and I use it a couple of times a week.
