About This Video

In this very rambly wrap-and-chat, I’m wrapping Christmas presents for my boys and answering a bunch of questions you’ve been asking me—Montessori, sibling dynamics, sleep training, and how we manage on one salary. I also chat a bit about the reality of filming in winter (it was so dark I had to bring out the ring light), and just generally where my head’s been at in this season of parenting little ones. I talk honestly about why I’ve stepped back from making “Montessori at home” content lately. Part of it is simply that there are only so many videos you can make about shelves, toys, and setups—especially when you don’t have a massive budget and you actually don’t want to fill your home with stuff. But the bigger part is that a lot of the Instagram-style Montessori activities just aren’t realistic for us, and Samuel has never been the child who’ll sit and do loads of shelf work. I still love the independence and positive discipline side of Montessori, but I’m also happy to mix and match (I’ve been looking at Waldorf ideas too) and focus on what’s functional for our family. I also share about Samuel and Noah’s relationship—Samuel adores him, but he’s very rough, and it’s exhausting feeling like I have to supervise constantly. Then I answer sleep training questions (we use the Ferber method) and share how we’re approaching Noah’s sleep while he’s still in our room. Finally, I chat through how we’ve made one income work in the UK by keeping our priorities simple and being mindful about spending.
