About This Video

In this first look, I unbox and test the Snowsky Echo Mini (a FiiO offshoot) because it’s one of those rare “super dirt cheap” devices that still comes with specs that make you do a double take. For under 100 SGD (roughly 50+ EUR / ~60 USD range depending on where you buy), you’re getting dual Cirrus Logic 43131 and a true balanced output in a player that’s only slightly bigger than a dongle. I walk through the unboxing, the physical build, the simple button navigation, boot-up speed, and the big caveat: no streaming—you’ll be living off a microSD card (and the internal storage is limited). Sound-wise, I found the Echo Mini to be very clean and very clear, leaning neutral-to-bright with an airy presentation. Bass is nicely balanced, but with my FT1 headphone it didn’t quite have the same “quality” and rumble I’m used to from more powerful setups. I then compared it directly to my flagship Shanling M9 Plus, and the surprise is: the Echo Mini is not massively behind. The M9 Plus still brings more body, warmth, and deeper bass, but the gap is smaller than the price difference suggests. To see the Echo Mini’s real potential, I used it as a source into a high-end amplifier (Enleum). That tightened control, expanded stage, and improved technicalities—showing the DAC section is legitimately competent. Finally, I compared it to the L&P W2 dongle and found them nearly identical in sound, which is why I end up calling the Echo Mini a killer “DAP at dongle price” beginner pick—quirky controls, no streaming, but loads of value.
