Sharing one of my favourite full setup for portrait photography especially cosplay or dynamic stuff. Not quite everything in your pocket but close! Takes great pictures, affordable price and really interesting possibilities. Only downside: you are stuck with 40mm F2.8! About This Video

In this video I’m sharing one of my lightest, most portable setups that still gets me genuinely great portrait results—especially for cosplay and dynamic concept shoots. The core idea is simple: keep the camera tiny, keep the lighting flexible, and use light (not bokeh) to separate the subject. My Ricoh GR IIIx (40mm f/2.8 APS-C) is basically the size of a small drive, and when you pair it with the leaf shutter, flash becomes stupidly fun because you can do “crazy things” without needing a huge, high-powered speedlight. I’m using the Godox iT30 and iT32, which are not powerful flashes on paper (they’re weak compared to a typical full-size speedlight), but they’re wireless, compact, and they’re enough to get the look I want within reasonable limits. The iT30 can act as a master on the GR IIIx to trigger the others, and the iT32 takes magnetic color gels—so I can do orange gel looks and other colored lighting without hauling big gear. I also show the tiny Ulanzi MT-89 stand and a flat-pack mini softbox to keep everything light, small, and usable. The trade-offs are real: you’re stuck at 40mm f/2.8 with limited bokeh, the GR IIIx battery life is utter trash, and you’re not getting “super” dynamic range or more than 24MP. But for around the price point I mention and under a kilogram, this setup is honestly good enough—and I’ve used it across multiple shoots.
