I love close backs. The DCA Noire X belongs to one of those self purchased headphones that I think truly brings close back to a new level. 00:00 Introduction 01:09 Unboxing and Closer Look 04:38 Sound Impression 07:47 VS Fiio FT1 11:48 VS DCA Stealth 14:08 Enleum HPA 23RM Standard vs Current Amp 17:48 Final Thoughts -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IEM Measurements: https://zpreviews.com/2024/07/29/measurements/ Contact me for Collab/Reviews: Audio Reviews: https://zpreviews.com Photography Website: https://zpeaktures.squarespace.com/contact Email: zpeaktures@gmail.com Like my content? About This Video

In this first look, I unbox and spend time with the Dan Clark Audio Noire X (my own purchase), because I’m still a huge fan of closed-backs for one simple reason: isolation. The cool part is modern closed-backs have gotten so good that you don’t always have to “pay” with weird tuning or that boxed-in feeling anymore. I walk through the build, comfort, and the usual DCA design language—recessed cable ports, solid build quality, and a fit that (for me) is just fantastic. One quick note: how you wear it matters. Sliding the cups forward/back can change the sound a bit. Sound-wise, I describe the Noire X as very clean, very neat, slightly bright, and genuinely exciting—especially up top. It’s one of the clearest closed-backs you can buy, with punchy, controlled bass (no muffliness, no boominess) and airy vocals that can feel surprisingly “open-back-ish,” even though you can still tell it’s a closed-back by stage limitations. I compare it directly with the Fiio FT1 (warmer, more rumble and low-end fun) and my DCA Stealth (bigger stage, smoother, more neutral, but honestly not as exciting). I also test it on my Shanling M9 Plus versus the Enleum HPA-23RM, where standard mode gives me less sibilance and more body, while current mode trades some top-end energy for bigger stage and more sub-bass.
