In this video I take a brief, real-life look at the Insta360 ThrowPod—an all-in-one tripod with a special “drop to deploy” mechanism. The fun (and tricky) part is the bottom yellow ring: when it hits the ground, the tripod lightning-fast expands by itself. I also show it in slow motion so you can actually see how it unfolds, and what it feels like when you use it day-to-day. The whole idea is simple: you can literally drop and shoot. What I like most is the stability. The triangular support system expands to around 500 mm, and the maximum working height can extend to about 1.1 meters. It’s built with high-quality aluminum alloy, has a solid metal top with a standard thread, and it’s a great support for 360 cameras and also the Flow 2 / Flow 2 Pro gimbal stabilizers. One important warning though: it opens really fast—keep your fingers away from the bottom when it deploys, because you can actually hurt yourself if you’re too close.
