In this video I’m testing two really interesting accessory designs for the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 (and yes, they’re cross-compatible with the first-gen Ace Pro too). Ace Pro 2 in 2025 is still one of my favorite action cameras for 8K, and it can deliver amazing 4K 60 PureVideo in extreme low light. That low-light performance honestly changed my mind about what an action camera can do in this category, so it makes sense to add accessories that push the look and usability even further. First, I test the Ace Pro 2 Black Mist (Glow Mist) filter—something I’ve been dreaming about for almost a decade. The whole point is optical “magic”: softer skin tones for portraits, and in low light you get that gentle diffusion on neon lights and city highlights without needing post-processing. I show side-by-side samples so you can see how highlights bloom and the image gets more dreamy and milky. One warning: I don’t recommend using it for extreme sports, because there’s no locking mechanism. Second, I install the flip screen hood. It’s designed like what you’d see on DSLR/mirrorless gear, and it helps a lot when the flip screen isn’t bright enough in harsh sunlight or high-contrast scenes. The hood flips open with a spring, doesn’t interfere with screen rotation, and you can still see yourself for selfie vlogs—just feels gorgeous in real-world use.
