In this video I’m doing a real-world PureVideo Mode review on the Insta360 X5 — not in a studio, but riding on the street at ~30 km/h in heavy rain, strong wind, and complex low light. I shot 8K 30 PureVideo while it’s basically “raining cats and dogs,” because this is exactly the kind of scenario where low-light processing, stabilization, and wind noise reduction either look like magic… or fall apart. You’ll see how the X5 handles brightness, colors, reflections on wet roads, and the ugly stuff like water drops and lens flare. I also explain the “magical trick behind the scene”: why PureVideo is so good comes down to hardware acceleration and the imaging pipeline. On a 360 camera you’re dealing with two fisheye lenses, two sensors that must sync perfectly, plus gyro data for stabilization — basically mission impossible without serious AI compute. With X5, the big hardware update is the AI side, and paired with Insta360’s software, it’s finally fast enough to push PureVideo at 8K 30fps and 5.7K 60fps. My biggest request to Insta360 is simple: please bring PureVideo back to single-lens mode. I want 4K60 with Horizon Lock in single lens + PureVideo, because that would be insanely useful for action workflows.
