In this video I’m sharing a big ecosystem update: with the latest Ace Pro 2 firmware (v1.2.20, released May 13 on the official Insta360 website), the Ace Pro 2 is now fully compatible with the Insta360 Mic Air. This isn’t a “Mic Air update” — it’s really an Ace Pro 2 update that unlocks pro-level wireless audio through Insta360’s proprietary Bluetooth protocol. The key takeaway is you can connect using only the Mic Air transmitter and get 48 kHz / 24-bit audio quality, which is a huge step up for anyone who cares about clean sound in action shooting. What I also love is the control side: the button on the Mic Air becomes a remote controller for the Ace Pro 2, and the Mic Air power button can wake up the camera (similar to how it works with X5). I don’t have an Ace Pro 2 in my hand right now, so I walk you through the firmware notes via screen capture and explain what to look for. If you’re on older cameras like X3/X4/first-gen Ace Pro, Mic Air can still work, but you’ll be limited to a lower-quality 16 kHz profile—so this Ace Pro 2 update really matters.
