In this video I deep dive into the real charging speed on the Insta360 X5—specifically the official X5 battery—and I benchmark it in a practical way after recording a long 8K 30fps clip. I start with the battery down at 16% and show the live readout of volts/amps/power input, so you can see what the camera is actually pulling. One important detail: if the battery is hot right after heavy recording, the charging speed can look “not fast” at first. In my test I saw it hovering around ~11W when everything was still warm. After I cooled the camera/battery down and charged through the Type‑C port, the speed stayed steady around 26–28W (basically the 27W PD fast charging people are asking about). The key trick is the PD “handshake”: you need to stay connected a little longer for the adapter and camera to negotiate the max power. My takeaway is simple: use a PD-compatible charger, a PD-capable C‑to‑C cable, and a power adapter rated at 30W or higher. Compared to my X4 testing (about 24W max), X5 is at least ~12% faster, and with larger battery capacity and lower power consumption, the overall endurance experience is clearly better.
