Backbends with Props - Intermediate Iyengar Yoga Class. These backbends are too strong if you do not already have an established practice but in this 25 minute yoga sequence, we show how some of the more challenging backbending poses can be acessed by using some props in the supine backbends. The aim is for the health benefits of backbends to become more accessible for those who find them tough and for those who enjoy backbends, working in a supported way can extend the time you can spend in them. It can be difficult knowing how to use some of the yoga props which are available on the market and we explore how some of the standard props as well as the less common backbending accessories can be used. This week we teach some of the strong passive backbending actions. We are using in this video: a mat, a chair, 4 x foam pads, 2 yoga bricks, an oval yoga brick, a back arc (Sae Arc) and two blankets.
