Alright, so you just got your brand new Pixel 5, you’re hyped, and you want to set it up the right way. In this video I run through the first 10 things I personally do on a Pixel 5/Pixel 5 5G so it feels faster, looks better, and actually uses the features that make Pixels so good. We start with the fingerprint reader on the back (where it belongs) and I show you how to enable the swipe gesture for notifications so you don’t have to reach up for the shade every time. Then I get into the fun stuff: Styles & Wallpapers (no third-party apps needed), plus Dark Theme because it just looks way better—unless you enjoy getting blinded at night. I also show how to switch back to the old three-button navigation if you’re not a gesture person. After that we go into Developer Options to force 90Hz and tweak animation scales to make everything feel extra snappy. And of course, we hit the camera tricks: Astro Photography mode in Night Sight, the double-tap power button camera shortcut, “Now Playing” song detection on the lock screen, and the Pixel 5’s wireless charging (yes, they did some wizardry).
