In this video I had to switch things up, because I recorded a full cook-up and only realized after I stopped that the audio was messed up with pops and clicks. I’m not uploading that kind of quality on an audio channel, so instead I took the same project and showed you how I come back to an “old” idea and level it up. If you’ve got a track you haven’t touched in a while, this is your sign to reopen it and improve what you already have. I start with the drums, because that’s where the bounce lives. The kick was decent, but it had too much midrange and top-end, so I EQ it to kill the boxiness and stop it from getting too clicky, then I pitch it down a bit, shorten it, and gain it back so it still hits. After that I layer a top loop from my Splice folders to add movement and keep everything grouped neatly. From there I build the vibe with chords, swap sounds into GMS, add strum with Strumizer, and then sidechain the pad using a preset in Aductor. The “scene-changing” part is the bass bounce: I double-layer the bass and let the second layer only play selected higher notes. I tweak the sound inside FLEX, transpose, add a few extra notes without overdoing it, and you get that unique bass that keeps people interested and drives them crazy.
