In this video I’m doing a quick, practical comparison between the Uncle Straps Z199 bracelet made for the Hamilton Khaki Field and the factory Hamilton bead-blasted bracelet—using a Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical Power Reserve 40mm that I had on loan from Saltzman’s Watches. Both are bead blasted to match the Khaki Field vibe, but side-by-side you can see the finishes aren’t identical. The Uncle Straps Z199 is just a little different in color and has a slightly larger “grain” pattern, plus mine had a small mark on it out of the box. Comfort-wise, I’ve been really happy with the Z199. It’s a little gritty (I’m assuming that’s just the nature of bead blasting and how it’s finished), but it doesn’t affect the wearing experience and I think it’ll wear in over time. I also go over the hardware details—dual pushers, three micro-adjust holes, solid end links—and I call out sizing differences: the Hamilton bracelet appears to be pin-and-collar, while the Uncle Straps Z199 uses screws, which I personally appreciate. The big takeaway is value: for the $75–$100 range, the Z199 is absolutely worth it if you want your Khaki Field to feel way better on wrist than the factory NATO-style strap, especially with that nice 20mm to 16mm taper.
