In this unboxing I’m taking a look at a watch I got in a trade—something I don’t usually do. Normally I’d rather just sell the watch and buy what I actually want, but this trade was interesting enough that I went for it. The watch is an RZE Urbanist (solar quartz), and right out of the box the first thing that hit me was how lightweight it is. I also talk through the coating a bit—this one isn’t your typical “painted watch” situation I usually go for, because I generally prefer my metal watches to look like metal watches. But the coating and the overall vibe had me curious. I do a quick strap and wrist check (I’ve got a 6.5" wrist / 52mm wrist bone), and that’s where the “did I make a mistake?” part comes in. I thought I was getting something closer to a 38mm, but on-wrist it looks more like a 36mm to me—smaller than I expected. I also rant a little about NATOs: I’m just not a fan of monkeying around with them, and I don’t like how they pop the watch up off the wrist with two layers under the case. I finish up with a quick lume shot—better than I first expected—and some thoughts on swapping it onto my preferred nylon hook-and-loop straps.
