In this video I’m taking a look at the RZE Urbanist and answering the question I kept coming back to the whole time: is it too small? The Urbanist is a modern take on a classic field watch, and at 36mm with a 43mm lug-to-lug, it’s definitely “small” by modern sizing. But not that long ago this was a totally normal size, and for what this watch is meant to be—hiking, camping, general field-watch stuff—I actually think the proportions make sense. It’s easy to read, it’s lightweight, and I like that it’s time-only with no date. I go over the specs and what stands out: sapphire crystal with AR coating, a black sand-textured dial, printed indices, and a Miyota solar quartz movement (you can see that solar ring around the inside). The grade 2 titanium case is UltraHex coated for extra hardness, and it’s drilled lug which I always appreciate. I also talk about what I don’t love—this pass-through/NATO-style setup adds thickness on wrist, and I’m just not a fan of that “bulge,” even though the watch itself is only about 11mm. I wrap it up with wrist shots on my 6.5” wrist, a quick comparison to my Seiko SKX, and a lume check where the Urbanist honestly holds its own.
