In this video I’m doing a straight-up mystery watch unboxing, and it turned out not to be what I expected at all. I thought I was opening a Tour watch from Random Rob, but once I got into the little black box I found a Davanti Horizon instead—Kickstarter 2020, 100 meters water resistant, and labeled as an automatic with “Swiss horological passion.” I even speculated it might be something like an ETA 2824, but either way, it’s a no-date automatic and I get it wound up and running on camera. Once it’s on the wrist, I give you my honest first impressions. The all-gold-color look really isn’t my style (I’ve got two-tone stuff, but not something that’s just fully gold-colored like this), and the push/pull crown is kind of slippery and not the easiest to grip. I also compare it next to an SKX for a quick size reference, and I point out a neat detail on the seconds hand—the counterweight looks like a horizon, which fits the name. The strap and clasp are where I struggle a bit. I’m not a fan of these butterfly/point clasps, and on my 6.5-inch wrist I had to go to the tightest hole and it still felt like it needed more holes.
