About This Video

In this video I’m taking a look at the Davanti Horizon, a Swiss microbrand Kickstarter watch that was funded last year. Early bird pricing was 449 Swiss francs (about $500 USD), and at the time of filming I recommended emailing the brand because the website was kind of confusing and most of the useful details were actually on the Kickstarter page. This one is gold PVD coated, and it’s also a tour watch from the Random Rob Discord group, so you’ll see some wear marks from being passed around. I go over the case finishing (polished sides and bezel, brushed lug tops), the strap and clasp, and why it didn’t work for me—especially on my 6.5" wrist. The butterfly deployant and the sizing just made it tough to wear, and I’ve never really been a butterfly clasp fan (outside of a unique system like the Formex Essence). I also dig into the design choices: the push-pull crown has awkward knurling placement, the dial mixes applied and printed numerals in a way that reminds me of the Rolex Air-King, and even the minute track and rehaut markers change style between top and bottom. On the spec side, it’s 41mm wide, 48mm lug-to-lug, 10.3mm thick with a flat sapphire crystal, 100m water resistance, and a Sellita SW200 inside (8 bps sweep, ~40 hours power reserve). The lume is C3 Swiss Super-LumiNova, but it’s a weird execution—hands are decent, and only the top half of the numerals are lumed. Compared to my Seiko SKX, the SKX easily wins on lume.
