What if we could grow all our own food? This is a question that Lou and I have been talking about for years and while this is a MASSIVE goal, every goal starts with a small step and for us setting up this garden bed was exactly that. We have so much to learn when it comes to gardening: which plants like growing together? how can we get the most out of our garden bed? do we need worms? how can we make the most efficient compost? But all these questions have us so excited to be here in a place with such an incredible tradition of respecting the land and with so many incredibly knowledgeable people to learn from. I'm in the process of finding a few farms that we can volunteer at/study under so that we can gain more local knowledge and are really looking forward to sharing that experience with you in the coming months. We're especially hopeful that we can start growing taro/kalo in our little backyard, but for now, I hope you enjoy a few beautiful calm days in a garden that I'm happy to report has already sprouted!!
