About This Video

In this video, I break down the full UX design interview process based on what I’ve personally gone through after applying and interviewing for a bunch of different roles over the past few years. I walk you through what to expect from the very first screening call with a recruiter (usually 30–45 minutes) all the way to the later rounds with the UX team. And yes—be ready to do “tell me about yourself” basically every time you talk to someone new, so I share how I structure that pitch to start strong and stay confident. I also talk about what actually gets evaluated in UX interviews, because a lot of people assume it’s all hard skills. From my experience, there’s a big focus on soft skills—how you think, how you collaborate, how you handle feedback, and whether you’ll be a good teammate. I cover portfolio reviews, product team interviews with PMs/engineers, and then the design exercise round (especially the whiteboard challenge). I share practical tips like asking a lot of questions, thinking out loud, staying calm, and leaving time for Q&A/feedback so you can defend your decisions and show you’re open to constructive criticism.
