About This Video

In this video, I’m sharing my last couple days as a contract UX designer—and yeah, it was honestly a bittersweet moment. I’m wrapping things up, reflecting on how much I learned, and just appreciating the people I worked with. Contract work can be a really solid experience, but when you know the end date is coming, it can feel like you’re watching one door close in real time. I also explain what I’m doing next: I’m staying at the same company, but this time as a full-time employee. And to be clear, this wasn’t a “full-time conversion” where you just slide into the same team—this was a completely different role on a different team, and I had to apply and go through the full interview process. What helped me most was networking internally, putting my name out there, and using the six-month contract window to learn how the company actually works—how product teams operate, how tech plays a part, and how UX designers contribute. The last two months were one of the most stressful periods I’ve had as a UX designer because I was racing the clock to avoid being unemployed, but I’m grateful it worked out. If you’re newer to UX, I still encourage you to consider contract roles—you really never know what could happen.
