I’m officially “fun employed” for a week—aka unemployed, but on purpose. My contract role ended, and my full-time role starts next week, so I built in a staycation in LA to de-stress after a pretty stressful job search season. In this week-in-the-life, I’m showing what I do outside the 9–5 when I finally have room to breathe: deep cleaning my room (I’m not gonna lie, I like clutter), resetting my desk setup, and just letting myself enjoy the city a bit. I take you along for a few food stops—like Seoul Sausage for a fried chicken doshirak—and I also share a desk upgrade: Felt Right acoustic panels to help absorb sound since my walls are thin and I share a wall with my roommate. Mid-week, I hop on Superpeer for 1-on-1 calls where I do coffee chats, portfolio reviews, and whiteboard challenge prep for people trying to break into UX. The big takeaway: taking intentional downtime between jobs can be a real reset, and a week was the perfect amount for an LA staycation before jumping back into work.
