So I recently got a new UX job working for a company out in Seattle! As I'm still located in Atlanta, one of the new challenges and changes that I'm facing is working in a different time zone (3-hour difference)! So far, I've really enjoyed working in PST, from EST. About This Video

In this day-in-the-life, I’m walking you through what it’s like working a UX designer schedule in a different time zone. I recently started a new UX job for a company based in Seattle, but I’m still living in Atlanta—so I’m on EST while my team runs on PST. The biggest perk? My workday starts at 12:45pm, which gives me a slow, non-rushed morning to wake up naturally, grab breakfast and coffee, check emails, update my to-do list, and even journal a bit. Because I’m not a morning person, this setup honestly fits me perfectly. I can also work out in the morning now (instead of evenings) and eat lunch before work starts, which makes the whole day feel way less hectic. On the work side, I show you my team stand-up (which is more of a genuine check-in), a co-design session where we validate prototype flows, and prep for a two-hour ideation workshop with around 20 stakeholders—which takes a lot of time-boxing and planning to run smoothly on Zoom. I also share the tradeoff: starting later means I can finish later (technically around 8pm EST). But my manager’s been accommodating, and I’m flexible when late meetings happen. We wrap with a stakeholder prototype walkthrough and why consistent partner check-ins are key to avoiding confusion and misalignment.
