About This Video

Windows 10 got “end of life’d” for Home/Pro, and if you’re like me (and a bunch of my clients), that’s stressful because you finally get an OS dialed in and then Microsoft wants to shove you into Windows 11. In this video I show a simple, legal way to keep the Windows 10 experience you already like, keep getting security updates, and dodge a lot of the forced-upgrade/telemetry nonsense. The answer is Windows 10 Enterprise IoT LTSC (yeah, it’s a cotton-pickin’ mouthful), which is basically Windows 10 without all the fluff, with updates available out to 2032. I break down the pros/cons versus Windows 10 Pro: better privacy (no telemetry, no Microsoft account required, tracking blocked by default), no forced feature upgrades, and a stripped-down install that runs light (I’m seeing about 1.8GB RAM at idle). The tradeoffs are real: there’s no Microsoft Store by default and there’s no in-place upgrade path—you’re doing a clean install. I also walk through setting up Remote Desktop, basic driver installs, Windows Updates, and I run a handful of game benchmarks on an older Dell box with a discrete GPU to show it can still do real work (and even play most games) on hardware Microsoft would love to retire. Bottom line: if you don’t want Windows 11, this buys you time and peace of mind—on your terms—until 2032.
