About This Video

In this Tank Talk episode I’m doing a straight-up tour of the fish room and all the changes I’ve made over the last few months. If you’ve been watching Unkyjoe’s Playhouse, you know I moved the rack back into the wall so it feeds into the equipment room, and it’s working out awesome. I walk through the two 10-gallon guppy tanks up top (live plants, basically maintenance-free), then the two 10s that got moved down—one is a hot-mess “experimental” tannin tank that I’m cycling into a future betta setup, and the other is a reset sand tank I’m cycling with guppies while I decide what nano fish to run. From there I hit the bigger tanks: my 40s with endless breeders (mollies/platies and guppies), my tetra tank that I’m not happy with because of algae (I’m cutting the light way down and rescape is coming), and the old planted guppy tank that just keeps chugging along. I also talk filters—my Fluval 207 canister is hands-down one of the best I’ve used, and I’ll tell you exactly which canister I regret buying. The big takeaway is the same thing I preach in homelab and fishkeeping: keep it simple, keep it stable. Planted tanks, water movement, snails, and not turning the hobby into a chore—feed every couple days, add water, and let the ecosystem do its thing.
