About This Video

In this one I’m doing something a little different from the usual homelab and NAS tinkering—this is us getting the dining room ready for Thanksgiving. I told y’all up front I wasn’t going to narrate the whole thing, so most of it is just the project rolling with some music: we finally get the floor put in (we’ve put it off for about three years because life, health stuff, and surgeries), my spouse decides we’re changing the room color, and we get some artwork up on the wall. It’s not 100% finished—trim still needs love and we’ve got a window sill to do—but it’s presentable, and that floor turned out fantastic. Toward the end I show how I make the turkey, because people asked. It’s a 21 lb bird for three people (yeah, I know), but it’s free from my spouse’s employer and we like leftovers. My method is simple: stuff it with citrus wedges to keep it moist, coat it in a whole stick of butter, season it up (poultry seasoning, garlic, onion powder, salt/pepper, and I like sage), then cook it in a Reynolds turkey oven bag to save yourself a ton of trouble. Three hours at 350 and you’re aiming for 165°F—done.
