One of the saddest things to see happen is the end of anything you worked hard to build, but all good things must come to an end, and so it is in this video. About This Video

Well, greetings people of the internet—Uncle Joe here. This one’s a “day in the life of an IT guy” kind of video, but it’s also a bit of a melancholy one. I’ve got a client that’s having to downsize because the business just isn’t there to keep operations going like it used to. So my job today is to take a pile of older portable devices—Acer Aspire 5 laptops and Surface Pro 6 units—wipe company data, remove them from the network, and get them clean-loaded and ready to be sold or handed off to folks as parting gifts. I walk through my basic process: clear the BIOS password, make sure Secure Boot is set correctly, then boot from my Windows 11 25H2 USB and reinstall. Because a lot of these originally shipped with Home, I install Windows, then use a legit script method to flip them back to Pro so they activate with the digital license. I also test battery health the practical way—load VLC and stream DVD-quality video for hours—so the next owner knows what they’re getting. Takeaway: even 4–5 year old gear like these Surface Pro 6’s and Aspire 5’s can still be very relevant today if you prep them right and set expectations.
