To ease into filming again (with my new Canon Vixia-equivalent camera), I’m sharing my first Japan skincare haul from our babymoon—also my husband’s and my first time in Japan, in peak summer… which explains the insane amount of sunscreen I bought. I chat through what I picked up while applying a few products on my face, because I was heading out and wanted to test textures in real time. In this haul, I go through gentle, “bang for your buck” toning options like Naturie Hatomugi, plus the Matsukiyo house-brand Moist Intensive line that I only tried because Tina Tanaka Harris raved about it (and she truly is the Japan skincare expert). Since I’m currently expecting and planning to breastfeed, I’m being more careful with actives—so I leaned into niacinamide sheet masks and flagged retinol eye creams for later. I also share my acne spot-treatment history and why Lion PAIR felt like a more elegant upgrade. And yes, the sunscreen segment is basically its own chapter: Allie UV Gel EX totally blew my mind (milky, rubs in easily), I restock my forever-love Biore Aqua Rich, and I give my honest take on the trendy Biore spray (spoiler: oily and the nozzle is aggressive). I also caved and splurged on SK-II to start my 30s skincare era with my husband—consumerism won, okay.
