Slabs, Tech and Drops, at the Watershed - MTB Frederick, MD - Just Ride Ep. 12

The Shed in Frederick has it all from techy rocks, huge slabs and challenging drops. This is one of my favorite mountain bike spots to ride in Maryland! We started our MTB ride at the Three Saws Trailhead and took the Rocky-Stream Bed Trail to Catoctin. This is a super challenging way to climb up, but it’s also a lot of fun. Eventually we made a right onto Lower Volkswagen and used that to link to Knucklebuster and Blue Balls. After crossing over a forest road we connected with Soccer Mom which had some nice tech throughout. This trail eventually leads into some unnamed freeride trails that we sessioned a bit before moving onto one of my favorite trails, Reanimator. The only downside to our route was taking Death March back up the mountain. I would probably take the Fishing Creek Rd to the top if I was going to repeat this ride. At the top we connected back in to the Catoctin trail, which was amazing, and used Buck Flats to get to Hamburg Rd. Once again we used Catoctin to link to Monarch, followed by Dave’s and Huggy Bear, until we finally reached Kubla Khan. In total the ride ended up being 20 miles with 3500 ft of elevation.
