Hunting for double black trails at Michaux State Forest - Just Ride Ep. 14

This place was amazing! We got a guided MTB tour of Michaux featuring Glory Hole, Hammy, Bong, Big Boy and Fireline. If you are in the area I highly suggest checking this place out. And while we focused on hitting the expert and advanced trails, there are plenty of blue intermediate trails throughout the park as well. From the Laurel Lake parking lot we climbed Throttle to Traverse to get to our first black trail called Glory Hole. This is a fantastic trail filled with big rocks and challenging tech. From there we headed to Hammy which is a double black trail filled with big slabs and drops. Bong was the second double black trail we hit and it definitely tested our limits. Big Boy has a few big drops, but for the amount of climbing we did this was not worth the effort in my opinion. Our final double black trail is called Fireline. This was extremely technical and full of massive slabs and power moves. Toward the end the tech mellows out but that first half was so much fun. In total, our ride ended up being 20 miles with 3000 ft of climbing. If I did it over again I think I would eliminate Big Boy and just take Vista right to Fireline.
