And while I am not an expert on prolonged fasting, I have been doing this for 6 years, and thought I would share my experience with folks who were curious about it. As a fat adapted athlete I incorporate 48 hour and 72 hour fasts throughout the year as part of my training for mountain biking and trail running. Not only has it helped me mentally, but the benefits I have experienced regarding overall health have been wonderful. It's a great tool I rely on quite regularly.
