Boxing training over 40 is different, and if you're still training the same way you did when you were younger, you're doing it wrong. In this video, Tony Jeffries covers 3 boxing training tips every fighter over 40 needs to know to train smarter, avoid injury, and keep improving. When Tony made these changes himself, he didn't just feel better in the gym. He won a Guinness World Record on his 40th birthday for the most punches thrown in 24 hours. Whether you're doing a boxing workout at home or training in a gym, these tips apply to you. At 40, pushing to the max every training session the way a 20-year-old can will hold you back and eventually break you down. What Tony covers in this video: * Why you need to stop head sparring and what to do instead to keep that competitive edge * The real science behind what even light punches to the head are doing to your brain over time * Why training at 100% every session is actually making you worse, not better * How to structure your sessions so you're always improving, not just getting tired * Tony's personal brain scan result from the Cleveland Clinic fighter brain study that changed how he trains and lives * What you do outside the gym matters just as much as what you do inside it Chapters: 0:00 The 3 Mistakes Destroying Your Boxing After 40 1:33 Tip 1 - The Head Sparring Mistake Most Boxers Over 40 Are Still Making 3:11 What to Do Instead of Hard Sparring 3:57 Protecting Your Brain Outside the Gym 5:01 Tip 2 - The Biggest Training Mistake Boxers Over 40 Make 6:22 Train With a Goal Every Session 7:37 Stop Ignoring your Recovery MY SOCIAL MEDIA: Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/tony_jeffries Subscribe to my YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/tonyjeffries1?sub_confirmation=1 Business Email: Tonyjeffries@gmail.com My name is Tony Jeffries, Olympic Bronze medallist & former undefeated pro boxer. About This Video

If you’re over 40 and still training like you did at 20, mate, you’re probably doing the wrong sort of training. In this video I break down the 3 biggest mistakes that destroy your boxing after 40—and what to do instead—so you can keep improving, avoid injuries, and actually enjoy training again. When I made these changes, I didn’t just feel better in the gym…I got in better shape, started loving training again, and I even set a Guinness World Record on my 40th birthday for the most punches thrown in 24 hours. First, I tell you to stop head sparring. There’s no reason to be getting punched in the face at this age, because even “light taps” chip away at your brain over time. I explain why I switched to shoulder and body sparring to keep it competitive without the long-term cost. Second, I show you why you need to stop judging a good session by how wrecked you feel, and start training with intention—80–90% effort, round-by-round goals, and leaving the gym feeling sharp. Third, I talk about what scared me after my brain scan in the Cleveland Clinic fighter brain study, and why recovery habits outside the gym—sleep, food, sauna, and lifestyle—are half the battle after 40.
