In this video I will be making a carbide straightening hammer for knives. I will be using a 3/16 solid carbide rod to install into the ball end of a ball peen hammer. The hammer is prepared for drilling by grinding a flat face for drilling then the ball is heated and annealed with a torch. After annealing, the ball is drilled to the desired depth then instead of brazing, the carbide rod is epoxed into the ball. After curing, the hammer is used to straigten a hardened blade.
