About This Video

In this video, I show you the easiest way to optimize for Core Web Vitals in WordPress without turning it into a week-long project. First, I explain what Core Web Vitals are in simple terms—Google’s standardized UX performance metrics—and the three big ones you’ll keep seeing: LCP, INP, and CLS. Then I walk you through how I check a site properly using Google PageSpeed Insights, and why I focus mainly on the mobile results (because that’s what Google cares about most). From there, I take a real baseline score (82/100 on a normal homepage) and improve it using just one plugin: Super Page Cache. I install it, enable page caching, turn on Google Fonts optimization (including storing fonts locally), and enable lazy loading while keeping the first two images eager-loaded for a better above-the-fold experience. After preloading the cache and re-testing, the performance score jumps to 99/100 in minutes, with big improvements to FCP and LCP. If you want to go the extra mile, I also point you to advanced settings and the best “final fix”: enabling Cloudflare caching to route traffic through Cloudflare’s fast network.
