In this video, I walk you through building a modern small business website in WordPress using the free Hestia theme. Hestia is one of our most popular themes (millions of downloads), and it was designed with small business sites in mind. I start from a fresh install, show you the easiest way to install and activate Hestia from your dashboard, and then use the onboarding wizard to set a custom homepage and import demo content so you’re not starting from a blank page. From there, I customize the homepage section by section in the WordPress Customizer: editing the hero headline, subtitle, button text and link, swapping the header background image, and tweaking feature blocks (icons, colors, and copy). I also show how to enable/disable homepage sections (like About or Newsletter), set up a Team area, add testimonials and client logos, and keep the blog section to a sensible number of posts for a business site. Finally, I adjust typography and accent colors, upload a logo, fine-tune header options (transparent header, sticky nav, search), and add a working contact form using WPForms. If you want to go beyond the one-page layout, I also show how to create/edit pages using blocks and Otter patterns—still keeping it simple and free.
