About This Video

In this beginner-friendly walkthrough, I build a classic business WordPress website from start to finish — hosting, WordPress install, design, pages, and the essential settings you should not skip. I keep the cost to a minimum on purpose: you’ll still pay for hosting (that part is unavoidable), but the theme, starter design, and the plugins I use are all free. I demo everything on Bluehost because it’s easy to use and has a solid price-to-quality ratio, but you can use another host and follow the same process. After installing WordPress in a couple of clicks, I show you how the WordPress dashboard is organized (Pages, Posts, Plugins, Themes), how to clean up unnecessary starter plugins, and how to log in directly via yourdomain.com/wp-login.php. For the design, I install my go-to free theme, Neve, import a starter site, and then customize it in the block editor: swap text, replace images, build a gallery, tweak padding, adjust icons, and change global colors/typography so the site actually matches your brand. To finish, I cover the “background” stuff that makes your site work better: set permalinks to Post name, make sure search engines are not discouraged from indexing, and add a few must-have plugins (Optimole for image optimization, SEOPress for SEO, Cookie Notice for compliance, and Super Page Cache for speed).
