About This Video

In this video I’m walking you through my updated 2025 wash-and-go routine for frizzy type 4 hair—specifically how I get that perfect balance of definition and volume without my roots frizzing up. This method has genuinely been a game changer for me because I’ve always hated doing wash-and-gos (I used to stick to braid outs), but using just a coiling custard made me actually love the process and the results. I start on freshly washed hair with a moisturizing shampoo, focusing on cleansing my scalp while keeping my curls hydrated. Then I go in with a hydrating conditioner and take my time detangling from ends to roots (I use a wide bristle brush). The biggest key is styling while my hair is still dripping wet—once I section, I apply a generous amount of coiling custard, brush it through from root to tip, then shingle with my fingers to help the curls clump and look polished. I also rake through my roots so they’re defined too, and if I need extra help in certain spots, I’ll finger-coil a few sections. After that, I air dry or diffuse and avoid touching too much so frizz stays minimal.
