In this video I’m breaking down a HUGE firmware update for the RODECaster Video, and I’m telling you straight up—RODE took care of business on the two biggest pain points I had. First, webcam support is finally where it should’ve been. I was frustrated because the RODECaster Video used to only play nice with uncompressed webcams, so a bunch of the “review this webcam” requests I get were a headache—some worked, some didn’t, and frame rates would stutter and jitter. After the update, my compressed webcams like the eMeet 4K that flat-out wouldn’t work before are now working, and the frame rate issues are smoothed out. Second, the audio workflow got better with multitrack options like pre-fader, post-fader, USB, and even bypassing processing. If you’re doing voiceover work and you want a clean, flat file to handle in post, you can do that now. And the big one: EDL export for DaVinci Resolve. The switch cuts I’m doing live get turned into a Resolve timeline, so I can import it, drop my audio in, and I’m basically doing light edits instead of building a whole multicam from scratch. That’s easily saving me 20–25 minutes per video, and for live-style production, that’s a game-changer.
